On deeper skin, one breakout can leave a dark spot for months.
The instinct is to treat it harder: a stronger active, a higher percentage, an extra step. On skin that answers irritation with pigment, that is what makes it last longer.
01
Pigment response
Why one breakout leaves so much behind
Deeper skin tones produce more melanin in response to inflammation. A single breakout can leave a dark spot that lasts months.
02
Duration
Why it outlasts the breakout by months
Dark spots are measured at 8 and 12 weeks in clinical studies. On deeper skin they often run longer than that.
03
The irritation loop
Why treating it harder can make it last longer
Aggressive actives raise inflammation. Inflammation is what triggers the pigment. The treatment can extend the dark spot it is meant to fade.
Proven
Azelaic acid fades the dark spot without adding irritation.
Azelaic acid has been prescribed by dermatologists for decades. It is one of the very few actives with published data on blemishes, discoloration and redness at once.

Breakouts
Works on the inflammation behind a breakout, not just the surface.
Dark spots
Interrupts the pigment production that leaves a dark spot behind.
Redness
Targets the inflammation that keeps surface redness visible.
The science was always good. The texture finally caught up.
Azelaic acid doesn't dissolve easily in water or oil, so it tends to sit in a formula as tiny particles you can feel.
We dis(solved) it into a high-potency, fully solubilized serum that feels like water, without sacrificing active strength.
A smarter solvent system.
Getting azelaic acid to a water-light texture takes a solvent. Propylene glycol and alcohol will do it, but both are associated with irritation, and on skin that answers irritation with pigment, that matters.
We use ethoxydiglycol instead, chosen for its low irritancy profile.

What to expect, and when.
Most clinical studies with azelaic acid are measured at 8 and 12 weeks. On deeper skin, marks can take longer. Stay consistent and keep irritation low.
Blemishes
Breakouts and inflammation respond first.
Redness
The look of surface redness begins to settle.
Dark spots
Pigment is the slowest to change, and the most worth waiting for.

What people say after using it.
I struggle with adult acne and this serum visibly reduced redness from post acne after just a few applications. It felt nice on my skin and didn’t interfere with any of my other products or when layering under makeup.
Lynn C.
I know about redness and I've tried allllll of the Azelaic Acid serums… This serum did not disappoint. It is smooooth. Zero grit. Not sticky.
Lili, pre-launch consumer study participant
The texture is unlike any azelaic acid product I’ve tried before… After using it, my skin looked clearer, brighter, and overall much healthier.

Questions, answered.
Will this work on my skin tone?
Yes. Azelaic acid is a go-to for all skin tones because it targets the overactive pigment behind dark spots rather than lightening your natural skin tone. It is formulated for all skin types and tested on sensitive skin.
I get a dark mark from almost any irritation. Will an active make that worse?
That is exactly why the routine is sequenced. Start with the azelaic serum alone, once a day, and build to twice. Add the nightly dark spot treatment around week four, once your skin is settled. The serum is fully dissolved in a low-irritancy solvent and free of fragrance and common allergens.
Do I need sunscreen with this?
Yes. UV exposure deepens existing marks and triggers new pigment, which undoes the work. Vitamin C in the morning helps, but it does not replace SPF. Finish every morning with a broad-spectrum sunscreen.
Will this help the dark spots I already have, or only the new ones?
Both. Azelaic acid works on tyrosinase, the enzyme behind excess pigment, so it helps fade the look of dark spots you already have and helps stop new ones from settling in after a breakout. Dark spots are the slowest thing to change, so give it 4 to 8 weeks of steady use.
What was actually tested, and by whom?
The formula was tested by third-party labs. Tyrosinase gene expression and kallikrein-5 production were measured in ex vivo human skin, and a single-center, dermatologist-evaluated clinical study (n=40) found 97.5% saw improvement in dark spots and redness.
Can I use this with tretinoin or retinol?
Yes. It layers well with retinoids. If your skin runs reactive, use the serum on its own for the first week, then bring your retinoid back in. A simple split is azelaic acid in the morning and your retinoid at night.
Morning, night, or both?
Either works. Start once a day and build to twice as your skin adjusts. After cleansing, apply a dime-size amount to dry skin, let it dry down, then moisturize. In the morning, finish with sunscreen.
How long before I see anything?
Blemishes tend to respond first, around 2 weeks. Redness around 4. Dark spots are the slowest, 4 to 8 weeks, and the most worth waiting for. Results build with continued use.
